If Michael Bay directed a SAW movie, it would feel a lot like SAW II. And that's the highest compliment we can pay to this hyperactive, near-perfect snapshot of 2000s mayhem. Picking up shortly after the events of SAW, this first sequel finds malicious serial killer Jigsaw commandeering his own trap-filled murderhouse to target a group of ex-convicts—and also Donnie "brother of Mark" Wahlberg. With production design that resembles a stoned evening at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and enough grisly carnage to fill three movies, SAW II is campy, outrageous, and deliciously gross.
